Photos
I am trying to take more pictures, in hope of developing a skill for photography. I also like to take photos to capture places I've been and things I've seen, of course. Here are some of the pictures I've taken in various places.
Brewer Park

Cherry-Blossom Canopy
Spring at UBC is a very pink time of year due to the large number of flowering trees on the campus. Here are some pictures I took of various trees in March and April 2008.

Foggy Day
I had been planning to walk down to Wreck Beach on February 18, 2008 but when I woke up it was so foggy outside that I could hardly see a few feet from my window and I changed my mind. Within an hour or so the fog seemed to have cleared, so I set out for my walk. Closer to the water, however, the fog was thick as ever. At first I was disappointed, but in the end the combination of sun and fog made for some really lovely picture-taking conditions and a great walk.

Henry as a Small Dog
A few random pictures of Henry, the dog of my sister and her husband, taken when he was a brand new puppy, in December 2005. The quality of the pictures is not great, but the cuteness factor is high.

Henry in the Park and at Our House
During the summer of 2006, I would Henry-sit maybe once a week and take him to the park to play. We enjoyed ourselves. I took these pictures one day in May.

Inside Parliament & Winterlude
My friend Amy came to Ottawa for a visit in February 2007. We skated on the Canal, took a tour of the Parliament Buildings, and wandered the Winterlude events. It was a good day!

Jericho Beach
As part of my quest to explore Vancouver, I headed to Jericho Beach on January 18, 2008. I found it to be a very peaceful place ... until I met the ducks.

Meaghan's Excellent Cross Canada Adventure, Part 1: Ontario
When I left Ontario to come to BC, I decided I would travel by road instead of by air so I could see the country. These are pictures from the first three days of my trip, when I drove from Ottawa to Kenora, Ontario and discovered how stunning the north part of my home province is.

Meaghan's Excellent Cross Canada Adventure, Part 2: The Prairies
After finally leaving Ontario (good lord, that place is huge), I visited Manitoba for the first time ever and spent a couple of days in the fine bear-filled city of Winnipeg with my good friend Shauna, and also met up with my other good friend Julie. They showed me around the place, and then I drove across some very flat land to Regina, Saskatchewan.

Meaghan's Excellent Cross Canada Adventure, Part 3: The Rockies
After leaving the car in Regina with my grandfather, I took the bus to Edmonton, and the next day caught the train which took me from there to Vancouver. The trip takes about 24 hours, much of which is spent travelling through the Rocky Mountains. That makes for some pretty spectacular views, but also some unfortunate picture-taking conditions, as you're trying to get everything through the train window, which results in glare.

Pacific Spirit Trail 3
Another walk down to Wreck Beach, on a nice sunny day, to look at the mountains. (January 20, 2008)

Pacific Spirit Trail 4
I have a tendency to complain quite a lot about the rain in Vancouver, so I've decided that when it's actually sunny here, I should try to take advantage of it and go for walks. January 15, 2008 was a lovely, crisp sunny day, and I took the opportunity to try out Trail 4 in Pacific Spirit Park, which I hadn't been on before. The trail leads to Wreck Beach.

Quiet Day on the Beach
More pictures taken at Wreck Beach, these ones at the bottom of trail 4 on a nice, peaceful day. Quite a few pictures of the strange pieces of wood you can find down there. (March 26, 2008)

Red Fever
In May and June of 2007, my beloved hockey team, the Ottawa Senators, went on an incredible playoff run, and everyone in Ottawa went crazy. It was awesome! I really regret not getting out and taking more pictures of all the flags and displays supporting the team, but here are a few I did get.

Snow in Vancouver!
On December 1, 2007, I was working on a paper. Then it snowed, and I really couldn't not go out. I had never been to a snowy beach before, so I decided to head down the monstrous staircase of Pacific Spirit Park Trail 6 to Wreck Beach.

University of British Columbia Snapshots
The UBC campus has some very lovely areas, and I occasionally take a picture or two around here. This is my random collection of those pictures.

Wreck Beach in the Sun
I went for a walk down Trail 6 to Wreck Beach on February 24, 2008 -- a warm, sunny day, when people were out in t-shirts and even going in the water a bit. I guess it's true that spring starts much earlier out here.
